This Top Ten Software-developed application is meant to be used by musicians during live sets. You see, with the user friendly application Cantabile, you can easily trigger media clips, switch between songs, and more. It is an application that is sure to help you perform better.

Cantabile is available for Microsoft Windows operating system, 32 as well as 64-bit flavors of the OS. The installation process is a standard one: download an executable, run it, click through the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard. When you’re done with the installation and you run Cantabile for the first time, the application automatically launches the Cantabile User Guide. Make sure to read it so you can better understand how Cantabile works.

Cantabile uses a ribbon interface, meaning that the buttons for accessing all its features and functions are presented on a ribbon at the top. If you want to, you can minimize the ribbon and thus hide it out of sight. There’s another means of changing the interface’s feel – from the Options menu, the General submenu, you can change the color scheme (you can choose between Black, Blue, and Bruised).

As mentioned above, Cantabile’s main purpose is to lend musicians a helping hand with live performances. It can play VSTs, switch between songs, integrate with your hardware, it can be controlled via MIDI, and so on. As there are three Cantabile editions to choose from, the functionality you get from the application depends on the edition you’re on. The runt of the range is Cantabile Lite, which is free for everyone. Then there’s Cantabile Solo, meant for home hobbyists, and Cantabile Performer for serious live performances. Cantabile Performer, as the top of the line product, has it all: plugins and racks, support for multiple simultaneous media players, recording capabilities, define a set of songs and jump from one to another, sub-sessions, per-rack keyboard splits, MIDI filters, MIDI controller assignments, multi-channel audio, and more.

Cantabile Lite is free. Cantabile Solo and Performer are free to try for an evaluation period of 30 days.

With Cantabile there to lend a helping hand, your live music performances are sure to be better.

Pros

Cantabile is available for 32 and 64-bit Windows editions. There are three Cantabile editions to choose from: Lite, Solo, Performer. You can hide away the ribbon and you can change the interface’s color scheme. The functionality Cantabile has to offer comes in handy if you perform live; the application has a nice set of powerful features.

Cons

Cantabile Lite may be free, but it has the least amount of features to offer. See what you’re missing out on by getting the free to try Cantabile Solo or Performer.
